Since I bought the shoes on Amazon.com, I keep receiving bunch of e-mails from them about the latest stuff on Amazon or sales about the things that I adore of. I was wondering how they were able to send me an e-mail relating with the items that I like and desire most. Then, I began to relate it with the things that I learn in classes. It is all about privacy. As I try to understand better what privacy is, I refreshed my mind of Lessig said, "Privacy was the limit the law placed upon the ability of others to penetrate your private space". Privacy is in fourth amendment as the protection from the unjustified burden of this indiscriminate search. Privacy is simply to constrain us from any intrusion and trespassing but that was long time ago. The farmer of the constitution is only a person and he/she could not predict the future. The world is developed and technologies innovations change this protection. Cyberspace is not a physical privacy as we could not see by our naked eyes. Technologies innovation right now is able to collect and compile our information about us. Under consumer panopticon, companies are capable monitoring behavior of consumer .Then, I found the reason why they could sent me an e-mail about things that could fascinate me because the moment I bought form Amazon, it is like I willing to share my personal information and I have been monitored by them for every details of purchase that I made .this is good for the companies as they could improve their business and as an alternative for them to make profit-making. In consumer perspective, as they willing to sharing their personal information, sometimes it can turn to bad things if the companies turn the information over to the government. The bright side for consumer is we could notify things that we desire. In my opinion, privacy is important because it is like our right to keep our personal and private information or to share it with someone else.

First and almost, everyone knows what is the meaning of privacy and significant of this word. In my opinion the symbol of privacy is freedom of a person alone or with people surrounds him from the interference of others that make the person uncomfortable. We can easily say, "I need privacy" or "give me privacy" IF the privacy that you wish is come from a physical privacy, such as privacy to pray like a Muslim. But, when it comes to cyberspace, privacy no longer easily you can wish and ask. How come you want to tell to the world you need privacy on your work or profile like Lily wrote in her article. This is what we worry about privacy. Privacy is easily to own it, but hard to protect it. I let this question be answered by yours; does privacy can be shared to any private agency to make it privacy?

As I started to read this article, the author reminded me that I also had the same problems as what she experienced right now. I kept receiving a bunch of junk mails that offered me to buy stuffs which would most probably situate within my areas of interest. Yes, it is a great thing to have varieties of goods to choose from which appear in my e-mail as like a public commercials. However, such advertisements start to make me feel annoying and consequently disturbing my privacy. As Lily says, the first second we make an agreement to buy a product from any company through online purchasing, we have actually agreed to share some of our personal information with this company although we like it or not. How is that possible? I would never say that I want such company to know much about my personal data and use it for their own benefits. However, that is somewhat reality which keeps happening nowadays and we have no choice but need to face them in our everyday live.

Technology has come so far over the last few decades that it is sometimes hard to believe all of the things we can do now. I am someone who shops on the internet from time to time, and I also wondered about the numerous amounts of emails I receive from the companies I have had business with in the past. They always seem to be advertising something that I want to purchase. Even though I rarely have the extra money to make the purchase, it still amazes me how they do it. Using my information to manufacture my potential buys doesn’t really bother me. If I don’t want to make a purchase I simply delete the email and get on with my life. Also if this information was to be turned over to the government, I’m not sure I would care to much either. I don’t particularly care if Obama knows that I buy Nike Airmax shoes, or a few Xbox games every now and then. If I was doing something illegal like buying bomb supplies I would probably care, but then again I am doing something illegal so I deserve to be monitored and caught. I believe that this sort of information can be important in protecting our country if it used correctly so I am all for it.
